PRESS RELEASE
HALSTEAD & DISTRICT PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY
Dated – 5 August 2009
HEADER: Halfway to the Top of the Digital SLR Competition
Five rounds into a top competition and Halstead & District Photographic Society is just three points away from the leader!
The competition for Camera Clubs, organised by Digital SLR User magazine, consists of ten rounds each with a different theme. To date, themes have included ‘mono’, ‘portraits’, ‘landscapes’, ‘colour’ and ‘spring’. The Halstead Club has been at the top of the leaderboard more than once and is currently battling fiercely with DAPA (the Digital Artists and Photographers’ Group for experienced photographers) and Wigan Foto Club.
Camera Clubs from all over the UK are participating; they submit three images each month on the given theme. The photographs are judged by a panel from the magazine and awarded points according to picture impact, technical quality and composition.
Gillian Beckett, Halstead’s External Competitions Secretary, said: “For a small club we are thrilled and honoured to be in such a high position. Even though there are still five rounds to go, we feel we have done ourselves proud!”
Overall winners of the competition will receive vouchers for photographic equipment from leading manufacturers, Canon. Results will be announced in January 2010 after completion of all ten rounds.
