I've been thinking a lot about photography genres and it is amazing to think that there are at least 50 different genres. Here's a great article from Josh Dunlop at Expert Photography. So what's your favourite genre, what genre might you aspire to, and what's your nemesis!
I love to take landscapes, I also have dogs and love to photograph them in portrait or action. I aspire to being a great bird photographer but at the moment it is my nemesis. People make jokes about 'birds on sticks' but honestly it must be one of the hardest to master. I managed to get a Golden Eagle on holiday in Scotland last year but my 100-400 lens was just not quite enough as it was so high, pretty sure my shutter speed was not fast enough either. However, the crop was half decent that you could identify it as a Golden Eagle! I would love to be able to afford a 1-600 lens but know that I wouldn't be able to work hand-held as the 1-400 is a struggle.
